Since I was little, I had an obsession with music and the clarinet (see side photo)... I loved singing and even won a Christmas Carol Singing Contest in Besalú, my hometown. I would have loved to play a musical instrument, but unfortunately, in those times (late 60s, early 70s), in Besalú there was no music school, and Banyoles and Girona were too far to travel to.
It wasn’t until I was around 40 years old that I had the luck to reconnect with my favorite instrument: the clarinet. In the summer of 2003, I found an old clarinet in an antique store and bought it... that clarinet was so old that I could hardly play it. It was then that my good friend Josep Gispert (Tenora of the Cobla La Principal de la Bisbal) told me: "...if you want to play an instrument, buy one that actually plays". It was after hearing Josep’s magical words that, advised by Pere Rabasseda (flabiol and clarinet of La Principal de la Bisbal), I bought my first clarinet in B-flat, a Buffet & Crampon E-11... an amazing instrument!!!
My beginnings were self-taught, following clarinet methods bought online, but soon I realized that I needed the guidance and advice of a teacher. It was then, in November 2003, that I started clarinet lessons with Pere Rabasseda... and here I am today!
The Kings of 2008 brought me my second clarinet... a Buffet & Crampon FESTIVAL model clarinet in B-flat, which has a spectacular sound... what a joy and fortune to play with this instrument.
For me, the clarinet is a good friend who has brought music back into my life, and with it, I have enjoyed unforgettable moments... it is for all these reasons that, on this weblog, I would like to share with you some of the scores that have moved me the most...
