In Metalquimia we have just presented the first line in the world designed exclusively for making meat snacks: the QDSnacks®. The new technology is an evolution of the QDS Process®, a plant for drying cured meats that Metalquimia launched on to the market in 2010 which has already revolutionized the sector. The QDSnacks® is a fully automated integral plant for protein-based snacks, which will allow the processor to innovate and industrialize the world of meat snacks, offering multiple advantages and accelerated innovation options compared to other processes currently available.
New food trends have led consumers to seek new types of food and snacks to eat between meals, snacks that are healthier, rich in protein, low in carbohydrates and trans fat free… this kind of consumption that is often done impulsively in search of a pleasurable moment. Today global sales in snacks exceed 374,000 million dollars annually. Europe with 167,000 million dollars, and North America with 124,000 million dollars, account for most of the sales worldwide. In Europe, being a more traditionalist region, the market for meat snacks is poorly developed and practically the only products to be found in this format are traditional cured sausages but in a smaller size. The current trend toward a preference for healthier low-carbohydrate products, and the consideration of protein as a good source of essential nutrients, has resulted in an increased consumption of meat-based protein snacks.
With all these points in mind, many meat producers have started to get interested and think about entering the world of meat snacks. And it is in this context, and taking into consideration that so far there has never been a system or facility on the market that provides the productive and technological features capable of making this type of snacks, that Metalquimia launches the new QDSnacks®, which offers the consumer another type of food that is healthier and ideal for eating between meals.
